Tristis Ward

Tristis Ward graduated from Dalhousie University, NS, Canada and the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. She has worked extensively in radio and the arts and as an activist in the LGBTQ+ communities. Her forst novel. “Bones of the Magus: All that Remains” was published by Broken Jaw Press. Description

Tristis Ward lives and creates in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She has a BA in English from Dalhousie University (Dal) in Halifax, NS, and a Diploma in Graphic Design from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD), in Fredericton, NB. Between these two pieces of paper, she attended approximately nine years of classes in non-degree studies, includingTheatre at Dal, Anthropology at The University of New Brunswick (UNB), Criminology at St. Thomas (STU) and Photography at NBCCD. She loves photographic art, illustration, sculpture, architecture, politics, and history.

For twenty years, Tristis worked in community radio as a producer, host, Program Di-rector, Station Manager, Board Member and national lobbyist, during which time she learned a great deal about communication, perseverance, and patience.

Her first novel, Bones of the Magus: All that Remains, a comic/prose hybrid novel based in the same universe as Desire & The Law was published by Broken Jaw Press in 2011. Also in the same universe, a short story, “Mother & Child,” was published in the anthology The End: Visions of Apocalypse in 2014. She self-published The Storm Fairy, a children’s chapter book fairytale dealing with mental illness and inclusion in 2022.

Other stories, essays and plays have been published in various anthologies, or work-shopped in public performances.
